what we do
working together
At home and in clinic
The first step in the speech pathology process is the clinical intake 30min phone call. At this appointment we will collect information about you or your child’s communication from you.
We will arrange a face to face session to observe your child at play, and administering some screening tests for benchmarking, further investigation or inform therapy goals.
Following the assessment appointment, it is likely that your child will attend a series of therapy sessions. These appointments are usually once a week or fortnightly for 45 minutes.
Sessions are individually designed for your child’s area of difficulty and are planned to ensure your child achieves success, feels safe and confident and has fun!
Therapy is play-based; however, video recordings, information handouts or written explanations are provided so you can revise their work at home between sessions.
Your child will make the maximum progress if work can be revised and completed between speech sessions. We recommend 5-10 minutes of practice a day.
When required standardized assessments will be administer and and analyzed, the findings are recorded in a professional report with recommendations which can be useful for yourself, teachers, doctors or other health professionals.
